Mau P has dropped his debut track on Defected Records. The Dutch DJ and producer has sampled Ini Kamoze’s reggae classic “World a Music” in his new track, “Merther,” which is described as “a hard-hitting electronic anthem made for the club.”
“I’m super excited to finally release ‘Merther’ after testing it on tour for a while. It’s incredible to have the legendary sample from Ini Kamoze’s ‘World A Music’ in there. A few years ago, I never would’ve thought this was possible, but here we are,” Mau P said about the release.
“My fans have been asking for this track non-stop, so I’m glad they can now hear the full, finished version instead of ripped versions online. ‘Merther’ has also become a key part of Solomun’s sets and has received support from Michael Bibi, which is amazing because I look up to both of them,” he added.
Mau P also made his debut in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs Poll this year, landing at No. 91. Last year, he released a remix of Swedish House Mafia’s single “Ray of Solar.”
Meanwhile, Defected celebrated its 25th anniversary this year with a book titled Defected: 25 Years In The House and a vinyl box set.
