We are circling back around to the genre of trance to reset our rotation of weekly music that started last week with EDM.
I'm super excited about the selections this week. These are tracks that will definetely put you in the mood to dance. We start out with the 'Tommy Oh!' remix of CD by Matt Bukovski, a classically trained Polish producer and composer who started composing music since he was eight! Hats off to you Matt.
CD is a pretty standard track until you get a sense for the break-down and the almost acoustic sounding snare. The pads are where he packs all the energy with a melody that is sure to drive the dancefloor into a frenzy
Next up we have an oldey but goody. This one came up in the list because it was included in the 24th edition of the Chill Executive Officer's dance compilations. It's Luke Chable's track Ride which he partnered on with Danny Bonnici. Nobody can forget Luke's timeless remix of PQM’s You Are Sleeping or his classic track Melburn put out by John Digweed on Bedrock Records, cut to the fact that it’s been a roller coaster ride since for him. This track is no different, super addicting with its melody, rising bass line and eccentric drumline. A nine-minute track and not a minute of it finds itself boring. Look for it in a future Four on Four Radio mix!
Here's another collab. Armin Van Buuren with Cosmic Gate. This one is Reflexion on the A State of Trance of label and actually label as the 2023 anthem for ASOT! This one packs a punch and sounds like it verges on the lines of EDM. I like the vocal sounds on that one. Lots of energy there.
One more, and you guessed it. Another collaboration. This time the duo is Orjan Nielsen and Mark Sixma with the group name Nilsix. The track is Anhedonia which translates to 'inability to feel pleasure'. It's no surprise that the track is dark with thick, crunchy razon basslines and suspensful melody. Orjan clearly did plenty of visionary work on carrying message with melody. Love the amazing energy in this track.
Last on the list we have Alexander Komarov's Ice Crystal. A good driving track with minimal melody and some background vocal effects. Alexander was definitely going for pensive on this one but didn't come short on the energy.
Well there you have it! I hope you enjoy the playlist and stay tuned for more upcoming selections next week.
Until then, this is Allison, with your Tracks of the Week special.
