Angels & Airwaves (2) 496 views 0 favorites Angels & Airwaves (also known as AvA) are an alternative rock band from San Diego, California, created by former blink-182 and Box Car Racer guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge. The current line-up consists of Tom DeLonge and Lostprophets drummer Ilan Rubin.
Tom DeLonge began working new material during the blink-182's final tour in 2004 and shortly after they began their hiatus in February 2005. For half a year he worked alone in his home studio before gathering musicians to form the band. Upon fiddling randomly for several weeks with the band's logo, Tom suddenly realized that if he were to invert the middle "A" of the band 's acronym into what appeared to be a "V", he would have the name of his daughter, Ava. As rumors were floating around about the band's "break-up", DeLonge chose to abstain for half a year from any interviews surrounding the issue and his future plans; instead he concentrated on writing and recording in his home-based studio. In September 2005, he finally spoke publicly in Kerrang! magazine, where he unveiled the name of his new band, "Angels & Airwaves". The band included former Hazen Street guitarist and high-school friend David Kennedy, former Rocket from the Crypt drummer Adam Willard and former The Distillers bassist Ryan Sinn.

Annie (1) 303 views 0 favorites Annie is the stage name of the Norwegian pop artist Anne Lilia Berge Strand (born 21 November 1977 in Trondheim). She currently resides in Berlin. Her debut album, Anniemal, was released in 2004. The name originally was an idea of her late boyfriend Tore Kroknes, who produced her 1999 single "Greatest Hit". Annie worked with Timo Kaukolampi (ex-Op:l Bastards), as well as Richard X, who produced and co-write the single "Chewing Gum" and the Geri Halliwell diss "Me Plus One". The Royksopp-produced second single "Heartbeat" was voted number 1 on Pitchfork Media's Top 50 singles of 2004 before the song was even officially released. "Chewing Gum" ranked at number 11. On 17 January 2007, Annie signed with Island Records. The first single from her second album Don't Stop, "I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me", was released in July 2008. Annie recalls the idea of the song as an attempt to recreate the drums and guitars from Prince's "Kiss". As she states in her blog: "Of course it ended being nothing like Prince but that's where the inspiration came from". Although it had a positive critical reception, it peak at number 54 in the UK, making this her lowest charting physical single to date. The music video was directed by Sarah Chatfield.

Antix (1) 289 views 0 favorites Behind the successful production of Antix are the brothers Hayden and Barton Strom. Making music together since 1999 and are today working full time as producers in their Slowburning Studios, Auckland New Zealand.
What has made Antix such a success? Here's a little view of their backgrounds that has for sure shaped them as producers. Both Barton and Hayden were introduced to music at a young age, listening to music from their parent's vast record collections. They quickly became addicted to the hypnotic sounds of trance in '95 when a friend handed them a tape urging them to check it out. Barton instantly purchased a mixer and started DJ'ing at small parties in the growing Auckland scene. Six months later he had moved to Japan to buy studio equipment and teach himself the art of production, where Hayden later joined him.
Together they returned to New Zealand, setting up various studios around Auckland and refining a sound, which really came together once they moved to the West Coast of the North Island and set up Slow Burning Studios in '99. The sound that seemed to evolve was a kind of minimal organic groove influenced by the European sound being played by DJ Philipp from Plastik Park and Anti from Spiral Trax. It wasn't long before a connection was made when Philipp toured Australia and New Zealand in 2000, and Antix were signed for their first 12" (Rainstick) on Plastik Park. Since then Antix have published almost 50 works.
