Yaz (1) 322 views 0 favorites Yazoo (also known as Yaz in the United States) is a British synthpop duo from Basildon, Essex. It had a number of Top 10 hits in the UK charts in the early 1980s. Yeah Yeah Yeahs (1) 278 views 0 favorites Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The group is composed of vocalist and pianist Karen O (born Karen Lee Orzolek), guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner, and drummer Brian Chase. They are complemented in live performances by second guitarist David Pajo (formerly of Slint and Tortoise), who joined as a touring member in 2009 and replaced Imaad Wasif, who had previously held the role. According to an interview that aired during ABC's Live from Central Park SummerStage series, the band's name was taken from modern New York City vernacular.
The band has recorded five studio albums; the first, Fever to Tell, was released in 2003. The second, Show Your Bones, was released in 2006 and was named the second-best album of the year by NME. Their third studio album, It's Blitz!, was released in March 2009. All three albums earned the band Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Music Album. Their fourth album, Mosquito, came out in April 2013, and Cool It Down followed in September 2022.
Yes (1) 306 views 0 favorites Yes are an English rock band who achieved success with their progressive, art and symphonic style of music. They are distinguished by their use of mystical and cosmic lyrics, live stage sets and lengthy compositions, often with complex instrumental and vocal arrangements. Seventeen musicians have been members of the band in its history; the current line-up since February 2012 consists of singer Jon Davison, guitarist Steve Howe, bass guitarist Chris Squire, keyboardist Geoff Downes, and drummer Alan White.
Squire formed Yes in 1968 with singer Jon Anderson. Squire and guitarist Peter Banks had played together in The Syn and then Mabel Greer's Toyshop. Anderson and later drummer Bill Bruford joined a later line-up of Mabel Greer's Toyshop, which evolved into Yes. Keyboardist Tony Kaye completed the first Yes line-up. Their first two albums received lukewarm sales and reception. Early sets were a mix of original material and cover versions by other artists. In the 1970s, Yes reached their creative peak in the progressive genre when most notably Anderson, Squire, Howe, Bruford, White, and keyboardist Rick Wakeman were part of the band's line-ups, and produced what many critics consider their finest works: The Yes Album, Fragile (both in 1971), Close to the Edge (1972), Tales from Topographic Oceans (1973), Relayer (1974) and Going for the One (1977). The rise of punk rock at the end of the decade led to a decline in creativity and sales; in 1980, Anderson and Wakeman left the band and the album Drama featuring Downes and new vocalist Trevor Horn was released. The following year, all band members except Howe and Downes left the band due to personal and musical differences; instead of continuing as Yes, they disbanded the group and created Asia.
Yes reformed in 1982 with Anderson, Squire, White, original keyboardist Kaye and guitarist Trevor Rabin and adopted a more pop rock sound. Their sales peaked across the decade with 90125 (1983), which spawned the US number one single "Owner of a Lonely Heart", and Big Generator (1987). The tour in support of Union (1991), which amalgamated members of Yes and Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, was a commercial success that featured an eight-man line-up (instead of a quintet). Subsequent albums and singles have been commercially unsuccessful. The band toured worldwide between 1997 and 2004 that included their 30th and 35th anniversary shows. After a four-year hiatus due to health issues from Anderson and Wakeman, Yes resumed touring after replacing them with Benoît David and Oliver Wakeman respectively. In 2011 they released Fly from Here featuring Downes, who returned on keyboards after 30 years, and the following year David left the band due to illness and was replaced by Davison from band Glass Hammer.
Yes are one of the most popular, influent and critically acclaimed acts in the history of the progressive genre, and have influenced bands such as Dream Theater. Nine of their twenty studio albums have reached the top ten in either the UK or the US charts, with two reaching the number one spot in the UK. They have sold 13.5 million certified units in the US.

York (1) 273 views 0 favorites York is an German electronical music duo founded in 1997 by brothers Torsten & Jörg Stenzel. Producing Trance, Downtempo and House their productions are know for catchy guitar hooks and delicate dance textures. Torsten Stenzel began his musical career early in his childhood, learning the piano from the tender age of 5 when he began his classical training. Until the age of 18 classical music and theory were his life, even playing the church organ in his home town for 2 years. In the early 90's his orientation changed and he discovered the rapidly growing techno/house movement. Little by little he put together his own studio and combined parts of his own musical production skills under the broad control of classical theory. Torsten is currently one of the hottest and most in demand producers in Germany having worked with the likes of Tina Turner, Jennifer Paige, All Saints, Moby, Tarja Turunen, Faithless, Vanessa Mae, Chris Rea, ATB, Rick Nowels, Rob Davis and Nadja Benaissa. With 20 years of production experience and several Gold & Platinum awards, the 'Echo' Nomination and 3 million sold records, Torsten Stenzel is without a doubt a 'Master of Club and Dancemusic'. Jörg Stenzel has since the age of 11 been interested in stringed instruments, the guitar in particular, and characteristic of great guitarists such as Hendrix and Santana. He has become an outstanding contributor in the studio, and in 1997, while he was busy with ideas to combine guitar anthems with current house and trance grooves, Torsten joined him with his own ideas and 'YORK' was born. Jörg's very talented guitar skills are still today widly respected within the dance scene. Furthermore considered the key elements of several 'York' productions. The York discography includes work with Roger Shah, ATB, Schiller, Taucher, Dj Sakin & Friends etc.
