Genre and Song Selection (+5 points)
Tony's mix is best represented by the soulful house genre. Most of the tracks Tony selects for this mix represent the genre well and carry a subtle soulful melodic vibe without being too aggressive on the disco essence or in the vocal aspects of soulful house. In fact, the majority of the tracks in this mix exhibit some level of vocals but those vocals are not in the forefront dominating the song. The selection of sounds is consistently strong with intelligent tracks that are eclectic, varied and sexy. The mix starts out with California People by Shee (+1 point) and continues into Easy Love by I Gemin which carries a distinctive 70's sound (+1 point). The next track that Tony plays is Clarence Boddicker (Lorenz Rhode Remix) by S3a which has a catchy synth sound to break it away from the disco'ish ambience. We gave Tony a point for this track too (+1 point). The fourth track that Tony brings is perhaps the one that brings the strongest vocals in the mix and increases the energy of the mix but also suddenly switches up the tone of the mix which makes the listener feel like the mix may be going in different directions. On the seventh track, Tony brings in Me You and I by Shee which packs a more distinctive house beat with a slight tribal background and starts returning the vocals to the back burner. Some of Tony's tracks later in the mix have more groove, more repetition and do a good job of making the mix danceable with a more housey beat as with Up Down by Withus (+1 point)
Sound Quality (+30 points)
The sound on this mix had no issues and was at the right levels with good sound quality.
Energy Management (+3 points)
Tony steadily increases the energy of this mix through the first five tracks and does so by using more prominent vocals as he moves along the mix. Once he's established the energy he moves into more housey tracks that use groove to keep the energy and danceable feeling of the mix.
Transitions (+54 points)
The transitions in this mix are very solid demonstrating great beatmatching, gradual fades with well-paired beats, good harmonic key matching and consistent sound levels. The only section where Tony appears to let the sound end is after Easy Love where the track abruptly stops and there's no transition. We took 6 points away for this. All of the other transitions in this mix were perfect and Tony scored high with 54 points in total on this aspect of the mix.
